Stephen Cooper Hart was born March 20, 1942 in Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. He was the son of Dr. William D. Hart & Genevieve (Jinx) Ellison Hart. Steve is a 1960 graduate of Anderson High School where he enjoyed playing the drums in the high school band. He worked a Hoyt Wright’s in Anderson for several years. Steve attended Indiana University and graduated from Parsons College in Iowa. In 1967 he married Barbara Shipley and they moved to up State New York where Steve worked for Mead Paper Co. In the early 1970’s Steve & Barbara moved to Peoria Illinois where Steve joined Penn Mutual Life Insurance Company. In the 1970’s Steve married Cheryl Caldwell Walsh and they lived in Anderson where Steve worked for Kayak Pools. Steve has a daughter from this marriage, Stephanie Brown who resides with her husband in Leigh Acres Florida. More recently Steve worked for Pool City in Greenwood Indiana where he designed pools and decking and recently retired from there. Steve’s favorite sport and past time was golf. During the winter months shuffleboard became his passion. He organized many Indiana tournaments as well as National tournaments. Surviving are two sisters Lou Ann Hart Williams of Canadian Lakes, Michigan and Becky Hart Fox (Stan) of Syracuse, Indiana and good friend and long time companion Veronica Laughlin of Anderson and former wife Judy Hartley Henning.

Visitation will be from noon to 1:30 followed by a memorial service at 1:30 on Wednesday July 23 at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Home (515 East 53rd Street) in Anderson. Donations can be made to the American Cancer Society, 1220 Meridian Street, Anderson, Indiana 46016.
